MAD tv Oprah and Dr. Phil

Ok so Oprah lovers unite and then go away.......this skit show how I feel about Oprah. She is far too famous and rich for her own good. She has decided to endorse Barack Obama and bummer for us. Her credibility is now officially shattered. She is no longer an unbiased information source for women she is a biased left wing elite like the rest of Hollywood. But we already knew it didn't we? She has intellectualized herself as an authority on just about any subject and now her cultish fans can follow her down the liberal road. She will tout it as an informed intellectual necessity to our country and her all-knowing persona will get Obama some votes. But she will forever in my mind be a powerful, rich, elitest, self-absorbed talk show host that has purchased an platform with her fame. Bummer for the rest of us stupid peasants we have to blog about our opinions!!!!

do you not see the irony of a Mormon (read: cult member) accusing Oprah of being cultish?

that's freaking funny.

not gonna post this comment, either, are you.

It would seem I have a lurking bigot that likes to leave nasty messages.....I am posting this one because whoever they are they claim to be a "liberal christian"
Just like in previous comments they prove clearly they are neither one. I didn't post the last comment because my blog is a happy place and it was too ugly. But keep trying anonymous, I will post the ones that aren't hateful but prove your ignorance.

Nikki,

I think that Obama needs to be careful that Oprah's popularity doesn't overshadow him. Nobody knows how many of the people flooding stadiums to see them are actually there just to see Oprah, but I'd suspect it's quite a few. From what I've read, some of the loudest applause has come while she is speaking.

Mike.......I agree with you. This is an interesting angle and one I hadn't thought of. Maybe if she brought a bunch of her favorite things she could drum up a few more votes!! haha. Thanks for your comment.

My thinking is that anyone who stops watching Oprah's show because of this one endorsement doesn't sound like someone who ever really cared much for her to begin with.

Hey Anthony...I agree with you, but personally I get tired of the Hollywood bombardment of left opinion, Oprah was always informational and engaging. Now her know it all status has entered an arena that is not equal. She is viewed as an icon with answers and now to me she is an icon like the others.

How familiar are you with Jesse Helms, the former Republican senator from North Carolina? Back in the 90s when Helms, a probable racist, was running for reelection against Harvey Gantt, the former Black mayor of Charlotte, there was a lot of pressure on Jordan to endorse Gantt. However, Jordan never did because "Republicans buy sneakers too." So basically, Jordan didn't take sides because he didn't want to damage his bottom line and ruin his Air Jordan sneaker sales.

I thought that was a very unfortunate incident because I thought it showed a lack of courage. But then again, Jordan was damned if he did and damned if he didn't endorse. But I think it does humanize Hollywood icons when they get involved in politics simply because it shows they have a worldview like everyone else, even if it is usually left of center.
