Where are the OLD BLACK PANTHERS?

I had resolved myself to let the "race" topic DIE ALREADY, but here comes to goods! Barack had a link to the "New Black Panther" website on his Obama "08 page, now it has been taken off. WTF? (f=freak) Can't wait to hear the lib spin on this one...full story maybe it isn't a big deal, but material it is and yes we shall blog!!

nik, i had no idea this group still existed. the black panther were necessary during the period they were born in. in the 1960s blacks were under attack by some very hostile and prejudice police. today i would think they'd be obsolete. i mean, what would be their purpose? i'm surprised that obama ever had their link on his page.

did a little research. seems the 'new' black panther party (aka the NBPP or BPP in our more modern acronym-filled MTV world) was formed to address the current wave of police brutality and aggressive prosecutors (sean bell in NY, the jena 6, etc). they're not obsolete as long as police abuse of power is still alive and well. their leader is a lawyer. btw, did you know that ed meese, reagan's right-hand man, taught and befriended huey newton at UCal Berkley Law in the 1960s?
