Planned Parenthood Racism Investigation

No matter where you stand on the abortion issue, why is it Planned Parenthood is funded by the federal government and is taking the money of anti-abortion tax payers? It is obviously a racist and sick organization. Aside from the fact that most people want the government to stay out of the bedroom, how about staying out of my pocket to fund other people's bedrooms "mistakes" and racist agenda's. This investigation is just barely getting legs and from where I sit Planned Parenthood has some explaining to do.

I heard this on a talk radio show. Unreal. I am pro-choice yet this is despicable. Racism has nothing to do with abortion rights.

i can't see the pic or video cause these two jerks here at work who recently made it their biz to change our virus protection software. GRRR! (bish-wish & her idiot husband)

anywayz, if it's what i think it is, this was simply a set up and a hapless planned parenthood employee fell for it. i did a lot of work with planned parenthood in my previous career and they are most definitely not racist. like all operations, they may have one or two or three prejudice morons, but that's every where, and we all must get over it and move on (not you, nik).

Maria, you have a point...I don't know the dynamics of the "investigation" I did think it was interesting and disgusting. But you are probably right about it possibly being an isolated incident or a set-up. :)N

I didn't see it but anyone who investigates PP will find that Sanger was an unapoligetic racist. The blacks were breeding at a rate that was higher than the whites.

Abortion is so obviously racist, I don't see why some folks don't see it. Whats the percentages?

but sage, margaret sanger (who i happen to respect for her pioneering work whether she would have liked me during the period she lived or not)was just one individual. the women that took up her baton and carried on the planned parenthood vision were not racist. among them, faye wattleton, a black woman, and planned parenthood president from 1978-1992.

You realize, of course, that abortion funding has increased since President Bush has been President. He also signs the appropriation bills that give funding to the organizations that hold Planned Parenthood up without any stipulations banning abortion. I doubt conservative McCain will be much different. (But I suppose to you guys it is better than Obama, who I wouldn't be surprised to see make it a cabinet position-Secretary of Abortion.)

DB he is a law abiding President isn't he. Just like the Romantics "that's what I like him". I did hear that Obama has a bunch of new cabinet positions in the works...secretary of abortion is pricesless. I hope it is the REV! He can kill all the white babies...:)N

Hey, Nikki. Planned Parenthood gets money from anti-abortion taxpayers for the same reason that religious organizations get "faith-based initiative" funding from tax-paying Atheists, or military contractors get money from anti-war tax payers.

As for the video, it's hardly what I would call an "investigation." It was conducted by a pro-life law student at UCLA. I would pay more credence to his claims that PP is racist if he had some proof that they actually took his money (which I'm sure he didn't send them) and went out and talked a black woman into having an abortion. Also, did he try offering a donation specifically for a white woman's abortion? If he had and was told they couldn't do that, then maybe he'd have something.

good point Mike...we all have things to bitch about when it comes to our taxes going where we don't want them to go! There is more to the investigation. I think PP has a reputation for having A-morals without the investigation...IMO :)N

follow-up to Mike...it did strike me how no one was offended by the reason behind the donation, you would think such a liberal outfit would feel outrage for such a request...that is surprising and that at least requires some discussion. :)N

I think it is stupid to have a special pot of money for a certain group. But this guy is a race baiter. I would like to hear a PP response to this but until then, it's kind of hard to judge the whole on a few douchebags who answer the phone (granted a few were managers), otherwise I can make plenty of stereotypes generalizing all anti-abortion organizations.

Nikki,
I saw this report on a news station (can't remember which one) and it was a set up. There were also several examples of PP employees offering to take donations from a "racist donor."

That said, I think this has less to do with PP being a racist org than the fact that they will take donations from anybody. But that's the case with most orgs. Would the Democratic party turn down cash from a donor because he/she loved their Middle East policy because "there are too many Jews in the world anyway"? Would the Republican party turn down a donation from a donor who wanted to "stop any chance that we might get a black president"? I doubt it since all money spends.
