DOES A HARVARD EDUCATION MEAN THAT YOU ARE SMARTER THAN EVERYONE...AND SHOULD IVY LEAGUE GRADS BE THE ONLY ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES?

I ask this because I have read several blogs that state exactly that. The President should be superior to you and me. To me this sounds like a country run by rich elitist academics. Why can't the Sarah Palin's of the country, regular citizens, stake a claim for a shot at the Presidency? Why is it she is innately stupid because she wasn't educated at Harvard? Is this where our country is? Only the highly educated, elite, rich, intellectuals need apply? I think this is an altruistic approach to leadership. I heard a reporter asking someone who knew Sarah Palin if she was "intellectually curious". WTF? This has been a claim of the intellectual media types about George W. Bush. He isn't intellectually curious. Freaking blowhard academics who talk like Thurston Howell the third from Gilligan's Island. I ask this question because now the left and some on the right are saying Sarah is dumb. First she is a bad mother, then she is inexperienced and now its Dan Quayle-isms from the up the ass intellectual types who are stroking on the political canvas of Harvard uppity aristocrats. Seriously, how does the humble populist crowd really expect us to believe they give a shit about the "people" when they act like constipated, anal retentive wind bags whose brains are a bigger circumference than half the western united states because they are HAAARRVARD effing GRRRAADDUUATES. Big friggin'deal. So there you have it folks. Only the super smart and Ivy League educated need apply to run this country. That means the rich and the successful. So get off your moral high horse Dem's. Quit acting like you give a damn about the "common folk". YOU really just want to be above the serfs so they can worship your extra-curricular vocabulary and nuance bullshit. Excuse my french. Its hard not to be so refined being educated at a western NON ivy league school and all. We done been taught nuthin good about stuff. I's just stupid about what I should be sayin and doin with all them taxes. Guess I should just build me some roaads and give some talkin to some presidents in china. Such a splendid philosophy. How do we function without the intellectually superior? I suspect, according to some, that Obama is more qualified strictly because he has a Harvard education. Pretty elitist attitude oozing from the left who claims such a populist message.

I agree with you Nikki ... but the idea that anyone can become president of the US is an urban myth. How many years has it been since a "humble" person served as our nation's leader? I think it must have been Lincoln.

Mustang, I agree not anyone should be President, but you hit the nail on the head when you said humble...a little humility and honesty would be nice. That is certainly not resonating with the self imposed standards from the left. I believe their "inexperience" card is based strictly on Harvard or a lack of going there. :)N

Having worked at Stanford for 20 years, I heard a LOT of comments about the "glories" or Harvard. While I would prefer a President who is educated, where he/she goes to school is immaterial to me. Besides, people from Harvard keep putting an "r" in words where it just doesn't belong!

saying that you have to go to a certain school (or one of a few) is an idea my brother in law is a true believer in. he feels that most americans arent smart enough to make choises themselves, so that is why democrats should be in chagre. his logic is dizzying...mindnumbing...
personally, i think that somepeople are just afriad that after i finish my year as pta president, i will go onto mayor, then gov, then president.
of course, nikki would be my vp.
1st line of business...kick al gore out.

As I always say, anybody can be president. Abraham Lincoln had no war experience, and he did a damn good job of running a war.

If we had an ECU grad as POTUS, we'd be in good shape!

Politics is the same ole song and dance and no one twists and spins better than the ole GOP. This is the year of the "humble" republican???? I do believe that MOST not all but MOST inside the beltway Republicans and democrats alike tout their Ivy league pedigrees. The fact that The GOP plays this wasted humility card is just testament to their win at all cost mentality. W. used Yale to bolster his credibility didn't he??? I heard Guliani do the exact same thing. So now Obama is the devil because he is educated?? I dont know about the rest of you but I would prefer an educated candidate from either party over an uneducated one any day of the week. I am not saying saying Palin is uneducated either. But for the love of Christ! I know how republicans love Jesus, as do I, enough with the double standards. The average true red republican cares about 1 issue and that is Taxes over social conscience. They want less of both. They are the top 10% of wealth in this country and all they have to do is dupe the other 41% in believing that love of country, and god will save their doomed souls in the end. Regukae folk like Sarah Palin really shouldn't be in the ring with these alligators from both sides. However from what I gather she has lied about too many things already. Not someone I want in the Highest level of our grand Countries government. Has anyone here heard the Woodward interviews with W??? If you haven't maybe you should. Very disturbing stuff in there. This man was a damn moron and admits it on audio tape. He admits all his administrations failures. As for McCain? He hasn't effected change for 28 years what makes him think he special now? What about all the rhetoric that W spewed about him in 2000??? Oh I guess those were lies! I get it, its ok to lie when your running a campaign. If W (ROVE) wasn't telling the truth, then McCain's an incompetent fool, If George was lying then its time to get rid of the GOP altogether, at least for this election. As always Nikki I do love your spot here. Thanks for the voice of opposition!
