ANOTHER EPIC OBAMA PICK and SHOE THROWING

Rumor has is that President-erect Obama has chosen Arne Duncan, the head of Chicago public schools, as Secretary of Education. Just for your information Chicago is among the WORST cities for High School graduation rates. 51% of students graduate from High School in Chicago. Yep, I said 51%. Nice pick there Prezzy electy. I am sure it is President Bush's fault the kiddies aren't finishing HS in the state of Oprah, so its an easy sell to the libs. Just to give you a contrast, Utah has a HS graduation rate of 92%. Hooray for the Mormons and hooray for conservatives kicking it on the grad rate!

PEOPLE WHO THROW SHOES AT PRESIDENTS WHO LIBERATE THEM...
In other news the big story is the Iraqi who threw his shoes at President Bush. The big discussion is on the cultural meaning behind this, let me explain it...when a shoe hits you it hurts. I threw shoes at my brother and he threw his shoes at me and it wasn't because we were about to hug. The truth is throwing your shoes at someone sucks in any culture. Shoes stink, have hard soles and may have doggy doo-doo on them and it hurts if they hit you. Its pretty much across the board. So the dude chucked a foot jockey at the Prez and we are all shocked that an Iraqi would do this? I'm not. There are Americans who would throw their shoes at President Bush and probably worse, mostly because they are confused messed-up imbeciles that are ingrates much like the Iraqi journalist. These people exist all around the globe and its not a news story. The media enjoys humiliating the President so it gets air time. I will just say that I consider it an insult to America and not the President...and that is not OK. Our soldiers died for you, you worthless Iraqi so that you could be a journalist in Iraq without getting gassed. But feel free to chuck toe jam at our President, we will gladly continue to free your country. I hope you got goosed by one of your so-called secret service guys, much like they also do in your culture. Shall we discuss the cultural need of Arab men to goose women?
Sweet duck by George. He's got some moves! Next time throw 'em back George, Texas style...Has anyone ever gotten a cowboy boot to the head?

I remember when the war first started and some of the troops were throwing shoes. For them it's the ultimate insult, for us it just seems a bit weird. Plus, now you've lost your shoes!! And, if shoes are considered a weapon, they'll have to install shoe detectors. It's all just too complicated.

1st, in case you didnt know, i am a bush lover. so when i saw this i was heart broken that someone would do that to our president. (not that i wouldnt have like to have thrown something at clinton more than a few times...) and for him to be so good humored about this man being so disrespectful. i am looking forward to the day when the history books say that although bush wasnt popular when he left the white house, the decisions he made changed the world for the better.

As for the shoe incident. Smooth moves on Bush's part. Maybe that was considered his farewell party for leaving the world in the state that it is in right now. The generic cowboy prez isn't disliked by nearly the entire world for nothing. Sarcasm about "blame it on W" may make his lovers feel better, but the truth is, he isn't going down as the most disliked head official with such shame for NOTHING. He's a complete disgrace.

It never ceases to amaze me that President Bush gets all the blame for everything that is wrong in the world. He isn't even to blame for everything that is wrong in America. But there are few liberals in the blogosphere who would actually admit this.

I can understand that there would be some Iraqis who resent the presence of American troops in their formerly shitty little country. I can understand the heartache over the Iraqi lives lost.

But who took whose life?

There were times when innocent Iraqis were killed due to the actions of American troops. Minimizing civilian casualties in a war is a very important thing. It's probably not THE most important thing, though. And sometimes mistakes and accidents happen.

There were lives lost in the Iraqi military during the U.S. invasion.

Then there are the American lives lost. Sometimes these were caused by friendly fire. Early in the war, some of these deaths were caused by the Iraqi military defending their territory. But most of the time these were caused by Islamic terrorists.

Then there are all the deaths that occurred during sectarian violence in Iraq starting in 2005. These deaths were caused by Islamic terrorists and others motivated by violence against Iraqi citizens. Tell me, now - did the war actually cause this? Nope. With freedom and democracy come responsibilities - and among those responsibilities is the requirement to settle your differences non-violently. Does President Bush bear the responsibility for the murderous intentions of Arabs against other Arabs?

This idiot journalist is basically saying that life was better under Saddam, because Saddam had his jackboot on the people's throats all the time, and therefore no one dared try anything against anyone else. This idiot journalist would not have been granted access to the American president and the Iraqi prime minister if Saddam's way of doing things had continued in force today. This idiot journalist wouldn't have been permitted to be an idiot journalist in Saddams' Iraq.

But you never hear the idiot journalists from any Western countries talk about the free press that has sprung up and flourished in Iraq since Saddam was overthrown. That would go against the liberal lie that President Bush is bad, all bad, and is responsible for everything that is bad in the world today.

Thankfully, the judgment of history is still years away. President Bush made some huge mistakes, especially in the fiscal management of the country, but my prediction is that years from now, the transformation of Iraq will be hailed as the starting point of positive change in the Arab world.

And good for him for both ducking out of the way of those shoes, and for keeping a stiff upper lip during the whole episode.

And with respect to the Obamarrhoids' new Secretary of Education - whomever it might be, Arne Duncan or someone else - can I ask the Americans on this site just what you get by having a Department of Education at the federal level? Is this not a state responsibility?

Seriously - why is it whenever a conservative politician suggests that the Department of Education get scrapped and leave the matter to the States, that liberals jump up and down, scream bloody murder, and block the initiative? It seems to be if Fiscal Year 2009's deficit is spiralling toward $1 trillion, that the new president would be looking for cost savings.

I don't live in the U.S., but I follow American politics and news a great deal. But this is something that I just don't understand.

El Cerdo, I agree...the dept of Education is worthless on the federal level. There is nothing I can think of to justify it. My sentiments exactly! :)N

it's me, you continue to blame the problems of the WORLD on Bush, our President doesn't have that much power. It amazes me how the left gives so much power to one person in a country with a government that is supposed to be a democracy...did you know that Hillary Clinton and the majority of Senators including democrats voted for the Iraq war? :)N

But, Nikki! They were tricked! Lied to! It's all Karl Rove's fault!! Aaaaauuuuuugggghhhh!!!

Bush should have done one thing to punish the "shoe chucker". He should have gotten the secret service to hold the guy and bend him over...then Bush should have donned said shoe...then planted it squarely in the offenders ass crack! Just saying.

Nikki, our own Detroit has a 25% rate. They're trying to figure out what Chicago is doing right.

t. durham...I love it! You should be on the Prez team, that would git r done! :)N

Chuck I saw that stat when I was looking up the Chicago stat...I knew Illinois was bad but geeeeez! :)N

But, Nikki, Barack and Arne play basketball together. That makes it all worthwhile. And, when everything is the same in a few years, it'll still be Bush's fault.

The left who blame Bush for everything are the same ones who complained that the right blamed Clinton for everything. But, that's different...

Some moves? It was a breaking ball that stayed up in the strike zone.

Should have just thrown old Chucklenuts the Number 1.

But lord knows Iraqis shouldn't have a say in whether or not they feel liberated.
The little adventure cost this guy his whole family but what's a few towelheads, right? Nothing when right wing talking points are at stake.

The guy loses his wife and family because some far right wing pansies were afraid that crack Iraqi spec-ops under Saddam were going to night drop and sprinkle ricin all over our waffles and he isn't grateful. Imagine that.
