King of Utah Robert Redford Wants to STOP DRILLING in UTAH

Its time Americans get a grip and understand that environmentalists are the biggest problem with oil dependence and the high cost of energy. Of course we need to conserve and further technological advances, but these environmental crazies are aiding in Americas dependence on foreign oil and our inability to tap our own energy resources. I say let's take control back from the green crowd and use the resources God or the spaghetti monster gave us. Step back there Butch, Utah is not owned by you and your, I love trees more than babies, crowd. Go back to Caleeefornia and leave our state alone! Drill NOW!

Yeah, and OPEC announced today production is getting cut by two million barrels a day. Unfortunately, Robert Redford can afford $4 a gallon gas because Americans paid to see his crappy movies like the Electric Cowboy.

I must admit, it makes me sad to think of those ugly oil wells - like they have in Southern California - destroying the beauty of Utah.

You're right Nikki, Bobby and the rest of these drama queens are hypocrits of the worst kind. Human life is expendable in their circles, but they get their panties in a twist over the prospect of an oil well destroying the "overwhelming silence". What crap!

Sandi if only Bobby would relinquish his mountain of shops and restaurants for our beauty then maybe I would care what he has to say...there is plenty of desert to not even see the oil rigs. just an fyi. :)N

That's funny, this is what the California crowd was saying to the Mormons during Prop H8. You guys stirred the Hollywood pot...enjoy!

DB, I suppose if Bobby didn't own his own freaking mountain in Utah I wouldn't mind his activism...its just way to hypocritical! :)N

Nikki, Redford comments on how BushCo is trying to sell public land to oil company pals and you blow your top? Is this about the Sundance festival?

As far as the environmentalists making us more dependent on foreign oil, here are some useful numbers. The US has roughly 21 billion barrels of proved oil reserves. That seems like a lot until you realize that we import a little over 2 billion barrels a year from OPEC countries alone. So if every drop of oil in the ground was brought to market, it would allow us to be free of OPEC for 10 years. After that, we would have thousands upon thousands of abandoned oil rigs, zero oil production domestically, and we'd be right back nuzzling at OPEC's teat.

The environmental wackos are right; we shouldn't be drilling more, we should be using less. And if $4 a gallon gas is what it takes to persuade Americans to use less, then I say hooray for $4 a gallon gas!
