RUSH LIMBAUGH WINS THIS BATTLE HANDS DOWN

Moveon.org has purchased ads asking for support of President Obama. The ad asks the question, are you with Rush or Obama? The President himself is talking about Rush and the GOP is also making noise about him. The blogs are going crazy with Rush Limbaugh topics and Rush, Rush, hurry hurry lover come to me by Paula Abdul is ringing through my ears there is so much talk of Mr. Limbaugh. Democrats in the House and Senate have started a petition to "denounce" the talk show hosts recent comments about wanting the Obama Presidency to fail. This is beautiful. The dems are shaking in their shoes about a freaking radio talk show host. Here democrats have a mandate dominating the House and the Senate and what is it they want to talk about? Rush Limbaugh. Is there any doubt as to which party is the party of pussies? I mean let's get real. Democrats won this election up, down and sidewards and what is it they can't shake? Rush. He scares the bejeebus out of them. I gotta tell ya folks(that's a famous Rush line), I used to listen to Rush when he was first made famous by going after the Clinton's and then was turned off by his drug abuse etc. But now I believe I have changed my mind. The dude is a freaking rock star! He is my new hero. If this one guy is so hated by the left and can get their sphincters so water tight that they are spending hard earned cash and good caloric energy peeing their pants about him, Rush wins. I bet his radio show has sky-rocketed in the ratings. I am going to make a point to listen to him tomorrow FOR SURE! The dude has to have more power than Obama or why else would Washington be collectively shitting their pants about Rush stating that he does not want the policies of this President to succeed? I have to agree, Obama policies die. A completely worthless stimulus package, his first interview is with Arab television and his cabinet is not particularly "diverse". I am trying to recall anyone on the left saying "I want all of Bush's policies to succeed and him too, I love me some America and Mr. Bush!" I can't even contain the glee I am feeling of how humiliating it must be for Nancy the stimulus scientist Pelosi to bring so much more fame and attention to one right-winged nutty guy. The "Thanks for mentioning my name Obama, my audience just tripled" card is in the mail from Rush himself.
This Rush Limbaugh frenzy gives you an idea of what these 4 years are going to be like. Deprogramming republicans into little democrats. Its the Logan's Run of politics. They will hunt you down and call you "obstructionists" and "divisive" if you don't bite off and chew minty fresh Obama gum with a sparkly smile. For the sake of the country, a republican must become a democrat. I think Rush Limbaugh probably should fear for his life more than President Obama. How dare he, I mean HOW DARE HE want this black President to fail. Is that not what people are really saying? That we as Americans should adopt the Presidents political ideology and sacrifice our own ideology for the absolute guaranteed "success" of our first black President? I am sorry but that is what I hear. It has nothing to do with wanting America to succeed. It has everything to do with wanting Obama to succeed NO MATTER WHAT and that means get rid of voices of dissent. Is this not racism? What I hear in such chatter is a conclusion of low expectations from many who are demanding such a consensus of adherence. Obama will succeed and fail like any other President. Do not undermine his office with such demands that his policies become moot and only his sensationalized success will suffice. Those who clamor for his "black" success are in reality sabotaging his potential accomplishments. His success must be real and not be clouded by powerful organizations who appear to drive his accomplishments through marketing and propaganda. This is grossly unfair to Obama. These rallying cries within themselves show ignorant elitism and dangerous appeasement. Let Obama be scrutinized as though he were not a historical figure but someone deserving of his office. This is disgraceful behavior and not surprisingly, its from democrats and enlightened liberals. Obama should succeed because of his own volition and not because of the demands of high ranking democrats and the powerful left who back him.
Rush Limbaugh wins this battle with Obama and the democrats. Rush is the new poster boy of us meanies who pick on our beloved President. Poor babies, start sucking on mommy Oprah's teet. Seriously Pathetic.

Or they could be using him as a perfect example of everything that's wrong with the modern republican party. Quite frankly every time that man opens his mouth we wins more converts to the democratic party.

When these big government programs fail to stimulate, these commercials will be a nice reminder of who was right.

This whole episode reminds me of Bill Clinton's complaining about Rush back in 1993/94. It was a very bad move - it made the President sound whiny. And it galvanized support for Rush because it led the Democrats to do what they usually do when they think about right-wing talk show hosts: they started looking for ways to reintroduce the inaptly-named "Fairness Doctrine", which would, if enacted, limit right-wing radio content to the same amount that left-wing content is broadcast. In other words, legalized infringement on free speech under the guise of "fairness."

So whatever one may think of President Obama's stimulus bill - and I don't agree that it's necessary or wise - his public critique of Rush is only going to lead the Democrats to trouble. The first step is a bounce in the number of Rush's listeners; the second is a galvanizing of the Republican base; the third is the Dems' complete inability NOT to talk openly about ways to censor, censure, or otherwise silence Rush; the fourth is a populist backlash against the Dems for even thinking about infringing on free speech; the fifth is a risk that the Dems will lose seats in the 2010 Congressional elections.

Sound familiar? It should. Think 1993-1994.

What would I do if I were the president? I'd ignore criticism from Rush Limbaugh, and keep trying to sell my plan to the American people.

As for Rush himself, I listen to his show occasionally (via the webcast of WRKO 680 AM, Boston), and I have listened off and on since 1992. I don't agree with everything he says, but on a lot stuff Rush hits it on the head. Plus he's funny and entertaining, and the parodies and songs he puts on are hilarious.

I thoroughly enjoyed hearing Obama tell Rush "Talent on Loan from Synthetic Morphine" Limbaugh to talk to the hand.

Your doctrinal leader is a guy who used to cruise Denny's parking lots to score dope. Steady on. I'm loving this.

There have been five presidential elections since Rush Limbaugh became a national figure, and the Democratic candidates have won the popular vote in four of them. Obama is succeeding in making Limbaugh the face of the Republican Party, which is not good for the GOP.

nice rant, nik. you are right. supporting the prez does not mean card blanc agreement with all his policies. that is not what made this country great.

as for prez obama, and his toe to toe with rush. oiy! it reminds me of the time when v.p. dan the dope quayle accused the murphy brown sitcom of informing declining social standards. i hope prez obama grows up quick and starts acting like a world leader.

way to stay on top of the prez, nik!

I don't really think Obama is all that concerned with Rush or what he says. As a few people have mentioned, I think other Democrats and lefty groups are focusing on him so much because they want Rush to to be the voice of the Republican Party and conservatives. While his ratings may have gone up, I'm not sure Rush is really changing any minds or bringing moderates and independents back to the Republican Party.

As for supporting Obama and/or wanting him to fail, I guess people can do whatever they want. I do find it someone amusing how the two sides have largely switched places with Obama replacing Bush.

PR, I don't think Rush will ever be the poster boy of the republican party, he has been around too long for that to happen now. Dem's may want it but they look pretty desperate even responding to a comment that was not explosive. He is insignificant to the party and will always have his following, but that is where it ends. Great to hear from you! :)N

Rush is sticking with his principles. He never said he wants Obama to fail, he said he wants him to fail if he's going to change America into a socialistic nation -- of which the stimulus package will do. Yes. Rush wins. Hannity even said tonight, "I hope Obama mentions my name so my ratings can shoot up."

Oh, and by the way, Rush had record ratings last week.

ANON - this 'popular vote' argument is almost as stupid as it is irrelevant. #1-it doesn't matter! in the spirit of superbowl weekend, let's take a look back... last year Tom Brady passed for more yards than Eli Manning (popular vote), but guess who they gave the trophy to? Seattle outgained Pitt in almost every category (popular vote), but who won the game? Kurt Warner passed for the 2nd most yards in any SB back when he played for the Rams (popular vote), but the Patriots got the rings. You get the picture. #2- Bush beat Al Gore in the popular in 30 states to Gore's 20. more to why NY and CA suck! and #3- if democrats are all about the popular vote, why are we celebrating the glory that is Obama. If that's the most important factor, shouldn't it be Hillary in office??
