The Honeymoon may be about over for Obama, so call a good marriage counselor. First, Obama offered a hand to Iran and they responded by saying "This request means Western ideology has become passive, that capitalist thought and the system of domination have failed"...oops that was not supposed to happen. They were supposed to say "Oh now that nice debonair dude is in office now let's make nice", so much for talking down rogue nations off of the "I wanna kill ya" cliff. Failed policy already? Of course. Then Obama went on a couple of tours. The first one is the fear-mongering tour. In order to push his worthless spending bill aka stimulus package, he went around the country talking doom, gloom and utter destruction if we do not pass this bill. I find this extremely irresponsible. Anyone who has taken ANY sort of economic class AT ALL knows that the psychological element of the economy is real. Now with Obama's peeps being so Jim Jones-ish, its not a good idea to tell the Chicken Little's that the sky is falling. They panic, stop spending and the tailspin begins...nice going on the alarmist type politics. Now let me take you all back AGAIN to the Bush administration and the CRAP he got for his FEAR-MONGERING to get the Patriot Act to pass. Al Gore and the Dem's went NUTS on all the domestic wire-tapping claiming it was "illegal" and Bush did it so he could hear what the peeps were planning for dinner. You know he was the evil dictator that wanted to know who was calling 1-900 numbers after hours. You'd think he threw most Dem's in concentration camps and water boarded them himself. Remember the claims that the terrorist threat was not as great as Bush acted and that he was fear-mongering to justify his actions? MMMMHHHHM. Al Gore went ape-shit and exclaimed "HOW DARE HE PLAY ON OUR FEARS! HOW DARE HE"!!! Fear-mongering, fear-mongering, fear-mongering. It's my new favorite word or phrase, or whatever it is. Fear-mongering about the economy to get a worthless piece of legislation passed, and trust me its worthless. Hypocrisy, again and it gets me hot and yes bothered.
After the fear-mongering tour, Obama sets out on the apology tour. He apologizes for his appointing cabinet members who were once Senators who wanted to raise our taxes but never paid their taxes. He did this a few times with appointees. Its particularly embarrassing since he has promised such awesomeness and perfection. We really wouldn't be having this conversation had Obama not promised to be so great.
So now we have the republicans voting NO to the stimulus package. The stimulus that gives 526 billion to generate more student loans and expand unemployment health care. Also 335 billion going for educating and preventing sexually transmitted diseases and another 50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts. It also includes $70 million for a supercomputer at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and $75 million for a no smoking program. The tax relief goes to lower income brackets that pay virtually NO tax whatsoever. There was also 335 million going to Hollywood producers, hmmm wonder why. It couldn't be because Hollywood is the biggest contributor to out new movie star-in-chief could it? The republicans said HEEEELLL NO, and so good-bye Hollywood bail-out. So here is what the republicans and some democrats with brains have cut so far from the "economic stimulus package":

So far so good phants and not so dumbocrats. Keep slashing. Let's try to tell the difference between what is a social spending bill filled with earmarks vs. economic stimulus. Just a thought. I could have sworn I saw Obama on TV with Katie Couric saying there were NO earmarks in this bill...better look again President.
Not such a great week for President Obama or our government in general. I also want to mention that Obama strenuously getting all bent because of the bill not passing and going for the "failed policies of the last 8 years" argument is lame and shows a lack of "intellectual curiosity". I highly doubt the intrinsic economic downturn can be dumbed-down to the mere "lowering of taxes" policy. Please don't insult mine and my peeps intelligence. Just like this proposed all encompassing economic fixing kit consists of sending money to support the arts is the corrected policy of the passed. He really is banking on the idiocy of the left to get him through this bad deal for America. Then its off to smoke and mirrors his way through it actually working as the media will claim it will. His approval rating dropping like my boobs is not gonna sit well with his exploding and incessantly wrong ego. Not a good couple of weeks for the IDOL-IN-CHIEF. But he will pass his bill and it will give a lot of government programs some great new funds, which is fine, just call it what it is, a spending bill and not a stimulus bill. I see no bail-out for those affected by the housing market by no fault of their own. And that means homeowners and not banking credit whores like Countrywide. That is the crux of the problem, so let's be sure NOT to deal with that. Elementary intellectuals in my book.
There will be punch and cookies served at the Obamaholics Anonymous meeting. You must first admit there is a problem, then you can begin to fix them. My name is Janey the democrat and I am an Obamaholic. Now doesn't that feel good. 12 steps to sobriety, you'll get there Dem's. No more drunken idiots going along with the crowd OK dems. Now start making sense.

Hi Nik! I don't understand all of the essay listing. Yet, thanks for posting it. Gives me something to research. Gotta keep up with the times. Love the fear-mongering comparison and the IDOL-IN-CHEIF reference.

You hit the nail on the head when you called him Idol-in-Chief. Obama spends more time infront of a camera than Alec Baldwin! The man LOVES to be on camera and truly missed his calling in Hollyweird. How many press conferences and youtube addresses can one man give in his first 2 1/2 weeks playing president!

Thanks for the great info....

Pamela D. Hart, thanks for reading the blog and making a comment! Very astute observation about the constant press conferences. I noticed there is another one on Monday...give it a rest and say your piece in your Saturday radio address. Ego...:)N

The only things I hate to see cut are funds going to education and schools. Not necessarily the construction, but assisting what's already in place. Here in CA our schools are going down the toilet. Fewer teachers, teaching to the test and not teaching so the kids actually learn something, class sizes are going to grow so there will be no interventions possible for any student who might need a little extra help (and we know how useless some parents are), and now they're talking about getting rid of nurses, computers (!!), art programs, kindergarten, counselors, sports programs, PE. The rest of that crap in the stimulus package can go, but I'd really like to see education be a priority for someone! It sure isn't for the legislature in CA.

Nikki said...

Hey Sandi, I agree education needs to be dealt with in California and other states, but that is not economic stimulus, that is a spending bill and goes into a different budget. This bill should be for strictly dealing with the economy, job creation and tax deductions. The more Obama tells the folks that this is for the economy the more he looks like a joke. I understand those things are needed but they do nothing to generate upward mobility in the economy. :)N

Obama's gloom and doom preaching is nauseating. Isn't he supposed to be Mr. hope and change? It seems there is NO HOPE the CHANGE is tired, old, discredited socialism. As you point out in your most excellent post, there seems to be a serious lack of econ education amongst the libs out there.

nobody did more fearmongering than the Bush administration! California is going bankrupt because of its republican gov. this country has spiraled to the depths of hell because of the republican president, wake up and smell the coffee!! Our new President Obama has BRAINS, he knows what he's doing, don't fret little ones!!

Nikki said...

Sue, while I appreciate your comment, its one that is far too easy for me to dispute. Its one that has been regurgitated for the last 8 years and is not anything new.
For starters California was bankrupt far before Arnold was there and had been run soley by democrats for years. Besides that little fact, Arnold is a democrat, very few republican ideals in his governorship.
And if you would of read my post a little better you would have realized that the point of the post was exactly that...fear-mongering hypocrisy. You whined about it, and now you do it. Obama is having a rough start, not a good idea to put the world in his hands. Controlling the world only happens in communist countries. Memo to you: handing out money to stupid social programs doesn't stimulate the economy. :)N
