ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?

I have no words for this at the moment...The President phones Officer Crowley and invites him and Professor Gates to the White House for a beer!
UPDATE: Obama regrets "obsession" with his comments
UPDATE: Officer mulls over defamation lawsuit against Professor
UPDATE: Police ask Obama to review facts and to apologize
None of this is going to help the sudden dip below 50% approval rating. And this dip occurred before POLICEGATE.

Oh come on! I mean, we all know how just so awesome President Obama is! Good Lord! What an f---ing bufoon we have in the White House. Hey, Mr. Pres! How about you kept your mouth shut when you said "I don't know the facts"?!

Why is the PRESIDENT of the United States getting so wrapped up in this situation in the first place? POTUS needs to be spending his time and efforts on other things. (and POTUS is not name calling)

He truly needs to stay the crap out of this whole issue. The police officer was right, the professor was wrong, and Obama has more important things to spend his time on.

Ain't nothing like being the Prez and being a micro-manager. I wonder if Obama can help out some friends of mine in Vermont with their parking tickets?

(BTW - a man to man talk over a few beers would be the way to go here, but it ought to be between Gates and Crowley only, President Carbon Monoxide.)

El Cerdo: Last I read, our current president doesn't suffer from alcoholism like our former prez. I think it's ok for him to have a brew with G and C! Glad u, as reasonable man, agree that a few beers b/w the boys is the "way to go!" Woo hoo for your comment! As for Obama helping your friend out with a parking ticket....did he/she vote for "O?" If not, then NOT!

Sue: Oh yea....he's awesome! Love him! :-)

It's me, do you have something against people who suffer from alcoholism? If so do you also have the same problem with people who have a smoking addiction, like President Obama? And Barry hasn't overcome his addiction, he currently still smokes. George has at least kicked his nasty habit. Let's be intellectually honest please when judging others.

I posted something, but then I realized it might step on toes. Therefore, I deleted it. For better words, smoking cigs doesn't alter the mind or judgement. Not that one addiction is better than the other. I'm no judge or jury, nor do I impose a "sentence" on anyone. Bush was addicted to cocaine and alcohol...both mind altering addictions. Just saying. Do I have anything against alcoholics? Yes, I do. Everytime my son gets in his vehicle, I pray that all the persons who are drinking and driving be removed from his path. You might be able to understand it better if you walked a mile in my shoes. A beautiful 22 year old, with a 14 month old baby was decapitated in a car accident on her way home from work. The drunk driver that rammed into her was going 110 mph down HWY 90 (in S.A.). He had entered the highway traveling the wrong way. Snuffed out her young life and left her child motherless. She was my brother in laws little sister. Yes, it has affected our family for 20 years now. So, yes, I do have a problem with people who suffer from alcoholism. Most of them refuse treatment.

It's me, Obama was on cocaine and admittedly so all during college and I he drank as well. He just isn't as forthcoming as Bush about them both as addictions. But he did drugs, lots of them.

Bush wasn't forthcoming about his addictions, much less anything else. They were found out and reported by someone other than him. They are both wrong (alk and coke) but there's a huge difference b/w use and ADDICTION. I drink on occasion, but I'm NOT an alcoholic.

It's Me, I think you're confusing two things here: alcoholism and drunk driving. I don't fault anyone for becoming an alcoholic, but once it's obvious that they are alcoholic, I absolutely hold them responsible for taking steps to solve the problem. Say what you will about President Bush, but his alcoholism (which he conquered over twenty years ago) was absolutely of no factor during his presidency, any more than Barack Obama's use of hard drugs as a younger man is of any issue during his.

One need not be alcoholic to become a drunk driver. Most of the drunk driving convictions and accidents where alcohol is a contributing factor (at least those I read about) are not the result of alcoholism. They are the result of stupidity and irresponsibility by people who are not, for the most part, addicted to alcohol.

As for the comment that "most (alcoholics) refuse treatment", this is most probably true, but it's not a reason to tie alcoholism automatically to impaired driving. It only means that most alcoholics are slow to figure out what to do, or lack the necessary respect for themselves and others that they need to push them to seek help.

My comment earlier about President CO not sitting down for a beer with Gates and Crowley wasn't meant to imply that the president shouldn't take a drink or have a beer if he wants to - heck, let him smoke too, if he wants - my point was that the Gates/Crowley matter is a local matter, and not something in which the prez ought to intervene.

As to the Vermont parking ticket situation - same thing: local matter. However, It's Me, I do admire your bold chutzpah in baldly defending patronage from Obama on the basis of how one voted! :-D
